Google- The Uttarakhand Energy Regulatory Commission (UERC) has proposed a hike in tariffs for rooftop solar and small-scale solar plants for FY 2024-25, citing falling solar module prices and technological advancements.
- The draft proposal suggests a net tariff of ₹4.24 per kWh for solar projects and ₹14.23 per unit for solar thermal power, with stakeholders invited to submit feedback by September 30.
- UERC has lowered the benchmark capital cost for solar modules to ₹36,881/kW for projects up to 10 kW, a significant reduction from ₹47,691/kW last year.
- The updated gross levelized tariff, without subsidies, is set at ₹4.64 per unit for solar projects.
- UERC noted that improved solar technologies like Mono PERC modules and increased competition in the solar market are driving down generation costs, benefiting consumers with lower electricity rates.
