- The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has updated the Approved Models and Manufacturers of Solar Photovoltaic Modules (Requirement for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2019. Key changes include:
- Factory Inspection: Provisional enlistment will automatically become final if the inspection is completed but MNRE doesn’t receive the recommendation within two months. Delays caused by manufacturers will lead to provisional enlistment revocation.
- Data Collection Portal: NISE’s new portal requires manufacturers to enter data on production, sales, and exports starting from April 2023. Non-compliance may lead to delisting.
- DCR Verification Portal: A separate portal ensures traceability and compliance with Domestic Content Requirements (DCR). Manufacturers must register and enter data to avoid penalties.
- As of July, MNRE added 2,674 MW of solar module capacity to the ALMM, raising the cumulative capacity to 50,675 MW. The ALMM mandate, reinstated on April 1, 2024, requires that only ALMM-listed modules be used in subsidized projects.
