Google- New Initiative: The Punjab Renewable Energy Development Agency (PEDA) has issued a tender to solarise 75,000 grid-connected agricultural pumps under the PM-KUSUM scheme.
- Bidding Process: Bidders will be selected through a tariff-based competitive bidding process, with the surplus solar power sold for 25 years. The tender allows submissions until September 23, with technical bids opening on September 24.
- Project Scope: Selected Solar Power Generators (SPGs) will install and operate the solar projects, ensuring a 19% Capacity Utilisation Factor (CUF) over 25 years. The project excludes energy storage solutions.
- Strategic Importance: This move aims to enhance agricultural productivity while promoting renewable energy in Punjab, aligning with the state’s sustainability goals.
